The Sunglasses

Inspired by a true event..

This all started 6 months ago,
when me and my friends decided to go for a holi party in a nearby resort, it was a grand holi pool party and like always we drank bhaang and had awesome food, while playing holi in the pool.
while playing holi in the pool i lost my sun glasses in the pool, and realised it only after 2 hours, big deal it was just a cheap pair of sunglasses.
after the pool party was over we went out and had lunch, and while having lunch, i saw the pool cleaners emptying the pool as it was very dirty and they had to change the water
i called one of the cleaners and told him that if they find my glasses to give it back to me and started having my lunch and went back to my hotel room to sleep.
suddenly after an hour the bell rang i got up still in the hangover of excess bhaang i saw a room boy with a pair of swanky ray ban sunglasses in his hands ,
he said” sir aapke goggles kho gaye the na , yahi hai kya?
i saw those beautiful sunglasses and thought this is not mine, but greed overcame after seeing that pair and said “ haan mere hi hai , thanks and tipped 50 rs to the attendant.
Not bad i thought 50 rs for a pair of glasses worth 10,000.
happy holi.

We left from the hotel that night and i was sleeping the whole day next day. Next day while leaving for office , i started looking for my new glasses and took them with me .
Once i reached office i put my glasses off and started working, during the lunch break when i went for lunch and smoke , i wore them again and started showing off to colleagues.
I call this a day well spent !
Next few days were very busy as the year end closing was nearing, and you know how crazy it goes in a startup to work for accounts .
around next week after holi i saw a small boil near my eye , i ignored it and kept working , next day it was even bigger, i thought of wearing my glasses again and going to office, you know how it works when we were kids in school and used to pray to get eye infection so that we could wear sun glasses and go to school just to show how cool we are . yes the same feeling again :P

well for next 2 days i wore my glasses and staretd applying an eyecream also suggested by a colleague.
by the time it was a weekend and i got some time to see my eye again, it had swollen 5 times of a normal eye, that made me worry .
i went to a opthamologist next day and showed him my eyes, after doing the basic check up he prescribed some painkillers and an eyedrop and told me to rest and not to go out in sun for 3 days.
haha thats a good thing, i called up my boss and asked for work from home for next 4 days and started working on my laptop, but the light from laptop was also hurting my eyes , i got my glasses and staretd working wearing them.
and after a few hours of work slept off , you know how work from home works :)
when i got up it was night and i was at borivali station, without my shirt, glasses still on , it was dark and i removed them just see what was i upto ?

i checked my surroundings and saw some bruises on my hand , strange (again)2
no money in my pocket, i just saw a cab nearby and asked him to take me home.
luckily my home keys were with me and i got in the home and saw the clock , it was 3 p.m , i had dozed off while working at 2 p.m. saw 23 missed calls from boss and friends. i was anyways too tired so slept off
next morning after getting up i went for a bath and saw some bruises on my legs as well.

called up my boss and told him that i slept off, may be was under too much of influence of pain killers .
Started working again from home and worked till 5 pm , had a lot of pending work from yesterday also.
after dinner i decided to take my medicines and went off to sleep.
next day eye sore was better and while i was taking my shower heard a huge cry from neighborhood aunty, i came out of the shower and ran towards my main door.
almost 20 people were standing in our corridor and my neighbor aunty was howling and crying , when i went ahead i saw a dead body of their pet Bagheera which was lying on the floor and its head was cut off and kept in a gift wrap , like how those e -commerce gifts come when you order them at home.
i almost puked when i saw that head, someone had killed the dog and had cut his head and wrapped it in a gift box , bloody gruesome, who could do that ? someone who hated the dog, but no one whom i know hated that dog, it was a sweet little dog.

i went back to my flat and started preparing my breakfast ,and called up my doctor for the next appointment as i was feeling better now.
called a cab and went to see my doc .
this was the last time when i went out of my home.
i have not stepped out of my home from past 5 months , have not seen my friends , families or for that matter any human being apart from the delivery boys who come to deliver food at my home.
i was thrown out of my job 2 months back, they cant allow work from home for more than 2 months that's the company policy, you know how startups work ..
i later found out that a labourer was killed the night i was at borivali station by a shirtless labourer , they have found the CCTV footage and are hunting for that man , and i have ample of reasons to believe that it was me.
i later also found out that Bagheera was killed not by some psycho, but by me and was packed in a box of helmet which i had ordered last year from an e -commerce site
my eyes are still swollen and i am not able to remove that free sunglasses which i got from that holi party.
why am i telling you all this now.. well while doing my annual Diwali cleaning today i found my doctor’s stethoscope in my cupboard….. with his head….
